We facilitate a Peer Support Group for Direct Payment users, which meets at our office on the first Wednesday of every month (except August).  The time and location of the meetings is:

11am to 1pm, first Wednesday of the month

First Floor Meeting Room, We are 336, 336 Brixton Road, London, SW9 7AA

We usually have two meetings focussing on Direct Payments for adults followed by a meeting focussing on Direct Payments for children.  However, any Direct Payments user can attend any of the meetings.  Please see the document below showing meeting dates this year.

Direct Payment users are encouraged to suggest topics for discussion and to chair the meetings if they would like to.  We often invite guest speakers, including representatives from Lambeth social services (adults and children’s services), council cabinet members, payroll and training advisers, legal advisers and representatives of other Disabled People’s Organisations.

Attendees can discuss their experiences and support each other to resolve issues.  People who are considering having direct payments can attend to hear from experienced Direct Payment users.

M attends our monthly peer support group meeting and had the following to say about his experience: “I would like to thank you and the team for the support you have given me as a service user of a direct payment. The monthly meetings have benefited me hugely to discuss any issues I have and to get up to date information on direct payments. Attending the meetings have increased my confidence in discussing my problems or any issues I have, especially when dasl invites council officials and service users to the meeting to discuss any problems or issues face to face with Lambeth council officials. I would like to sincerely thank dasl for their support.”

The meetings are facilitated by members of our Direct Payments team.
